Allison Wright Master Herbalist

Allison Wright, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, began studying and working with herbs in 1984 whilst living in England.  She completed formal studies with the Global College of Natural Medicine in 2006 as a Master Herbalist.

Allison is passionately involved in all aspects of Herbalism and is an avid herb gardener, growing most of the herbs she uses. She loves to teach and share knowledge with others in an effort to promote holistic health care to all who are interested.   She lives in Lakeland with her Husband, Son and two cat-children.

Step into the world of the Herbalist and learn the Art of the Apothecary.   Herbalism I is a multi-faceted, interactive, hands-on course that will teach you basic and intermediate skills in order that you may go forward using what you have learned to help yourself and your family. 

 

Here is a brief sampling of what you will be learning in this three-week course…..

 

CLASS I                                                                  

Brief history of Herbalism, Advantages of Herbal Medicine, How herbs heal us, Terminology, The tools of the Herbalist, Herbal Materia Medica, Apothecary Weight & Measure, Most commonly used herbs, Herbal First Aid, Preparing a Tincture and a Poultice

 

CLASS  II

Herb Safety, Vitamin-Drug-Herb Interactions, Herb-Ailment Interactions, Dosage, Contraindications, Healing Common Ailments, Essiac, Detoxification.  Preparing a Tisane

 

CLASS  III

Growing & Harvesting Herbs, Parts of the Plant Used, Methods of Drying & Storage, Beneficial Weeds, Gardening by the Moon

 

In this course, you will be making your own individual preparations to take home with you.  You will be handling live plants, weighing and measuring herbs, blending formulas, using the tools, and more.  It promises to be fun, busy and informative.  Comprehensive notes will be provided.
